The Flute Project
A new project is born in the form of a two-part tribute, on the one hand offering the opportunity to the flutists of Crete to have a non-profit participation in a high level seminar by musicians of the Athens State Orchestra (A.S.O.) and on the other to honour Aliki Sοurgiadaki. In her memory, an annual scholarship is given by her beloved friend Kitty Ieronymaki – Vergoti, in the context of the Urs Rüttimann flute competition, to the flutist with the best performance during the seminar.
The Region of Crete / Regional Unit of Heraklion, the Athens State Orchestra and the Society of Cretan Historical Studies, embraced our proposal from the very beginning and we proceeded to co-organizing the forementioned flute project seminar and concert “The Flute” therefore honouring Aliki Sourgiadaki, that was born and lived in Heraklion, with the particpation of flutists of KOA Chrysi Pilaftsi and Michael Ramos, accompanied by Katerina Karabatsa on the piano and Ioanna Giannari as the artistic curator.
